For centuries the Romani people (better known as Gypsies) were renowned for traveling across continents. They journeyed on foot and in their horse-drawn cart houses–which they named vardo–carrying their homes and families with them wherever they went.

Gypsies we are not, but we figured there might be something to this whole “nomad” thing. So we decided early in 2013 to give it a try. This blog is the ongoing story of our attempts to plan, build, and live in our own modern vardo (today bettter known colloquially as an “RV”). We’re starting with this:
